Backlogik FAQ
This FAQ explains how Backlogik works for players who want to organize video game libraries, wishlists, and completions. Backlogik is free to use for core backlog tracking. Browse Discover and Home without an account; sign in when you want to save your personal library.
If you are new, start with the “What is Backlogik?” and “How to organize your game backlog” guides, then return here for short answers. For privacy, cookies, and account rules, use the legal pages linked at the bottom of every page.
Is Backlogik free?
Yes. Core features — library statuses, collections, Discover browsing, and reviews — are available without paying. Optional VIP features (for example a profile banner) may be offered separately. Ads may appear for non-VIP users when advertising is enabled and consent rules are met.
Public pages such as Home, Discover, About, Guides, and FAQ stay readable without a subscription. You do not need VIP to understand the product or to start tracking a backlog.
Do I need an account to look around?
No. You can use Home, Discover, featured collections, public collection pages, and public profiles without signing in. An account is required to save statuses, private collections, follows, timeline activity, and store sync.
What is a “backlog” in Backlogik?
Your backlog is the set of games you own (or firmly plan to play) but have not finished yet. Backlogik helps you track that list alongside wishlist, playing, completed, and dropped states so you can prioritize realistically.
A store wishlist is optimized for buying. A raw ownership list only answers “do I own it?” A backlog answers “what should I play next with the time I actually have?” That is the problem Backlogik is built to solve.
Which statuses should I use?
- Playing: actively in progress right now (keep this list short).
- Backlog: owned, not finished, waiting for a slot.
- Wishlist: interested, not owned yet.
- Completed: finished (or finished enough for you).
- Dropped: stopped on purpose.
- Owned: useful when you track ownership separately from play state.
Use statuses as truth, not aspiration. If you have not opened a game in months, it belongs in backlog or wishlist — not “playing.” Clear labels make filters and guides useful later.
Where does game information come from?
Catalog metadata such as titles, covers, and summaries may come from third-party sources (for example IGDB). Your statuses, reviews, and collections are your data inside Backlogik. Catalog coverage can be incomplete; that is expected for large game databases.
How does Google Sign-In work?
Optional Google Sign-In authenticates you using openid, email, and profile. Backlogik receives your Google id, email, name, and avatar URL to create or open your account. We do not access Gmail or Drive. Details are in the Privacy policy.
You can also register with email and password. Google Sign-In is optional convenience, not a requirement to use Backlogik.
Can I import my Steam / GOG / Xbox library?
When store connections are available in your profile, you can authorize them to import ownership data. After importing, set Playing/Completed/Backlog yourself — sync does not know your personal progress.
Think of imports as a head start. Ownership sync is not the same as play-state tracking. See the store connections guide for expectations and privacy notes.
Are my collections public?
You choose visibility. Private collections stay with your account. Public collections can be shared and may appear in community browsing. Featured collections on Home are curated highlights.
How do reviews work?
Signed-in users can rate and review games. Write spoilers carefully and keep content respectful. Reviews help you remember experiences and help other players evaluate titles.
A useful review explains who the game is for, how long it took you, and what surprised you — not only a number. Scores without context travel poorly between players with different tastes.
What about ads and VIP?
Non-VIP users may see advertisements when AdSense (or another provider) is active and consent rules are met. VIP can remove ads and unlock extras depending on the current plan. VIP is optional.
How do I delete my account or data?
Email the contact address listed on the Privacy policy and About pages. We will delete or anonymize personal account data subject to legal retention needs. You can also revoke Google Sign-In from your Google Account settings.
Which platforms and browsers are supported?
Backlogik is a responsive web app. Use a modern evergreen browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). Mobile browsers are supported; some dense library tools are more comfortable on larger screens.
How is Backlogik different from a store wishlist?
A store wishlist is optimized for buying. Backlogik is optimized for finishing and organizing: it tracks ownership and play state, not only “I might buy this later.” That difference matters when your problem is time and attention, not discovering one more sale.
I found a bug or wrong game data. What should I do?
Catalog mismatches happen with large third-party datasets. Contact support with the game name, URL, and what looks wrong. For product bugs, include your browser and steps to reproduce.
